Over the two centuries since the United States was formed, many disputes have arisen over the limits on the powers of the federal government. These disputes have often been the subject of lawsuits that have ultimately been decided by the House that currently consists of 435 voting members, each of them represents a congressional district. The number of representatives each state has in the House is based on each states population as determined in the most recent United States Census. All 435 representatives serve a two-year term. Each state receives a minimum of one representative in the House. In order to be elected as a representative, an individual must be at least 25 years of age, and must have been a U. S. citizen for at least seven years. There is no limit on the number of terms a representative may serve. In addition to the 435 voting members, there are six non-voting members, consisting of five delegates and one resident commissioner. There is one delegate each from the District of Columbia, Guam, Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Northern Marianna Islands, and the residential commissioner from Puerto Rico. In contrast the Senate is made up of two senators from each state, regardless of population. There is currently a total of 100 senators (two from each of the 50 states), who each serve six-year terms. Approximately one third of the Senate stands for election every two years. Second, the executive power in the federal government is vested in the President of the United States, although power is often delegated to the Cabinet members and other officials. The President and Vice President are elected as â€Å"running mates† by the Electoral College, for which each state, as well as the District of Columbia, is allocated a number of seats based on its representation in both houses of Congress. The President is limited to a maximum of two non-consecutive four-year terms, as well as being able to have served for 2 years after succeeding to the presidency, prior to his last term.

Anti - Child Support

Question: Write an essay on Anti - Child Support? Answer: People outside the child support system generally feel that the parent is not and cant support the child because of which it is far beyond the truth. Most of the people are also under the impression that the system is for children. Most of the people are not aware that the custodian parents are strongly persuaded that they are forced to enter the system and initiate the payments for their welfare. Most of the countries have various welfare schemes for children and families support however when it is the turn for the parents to take care of the children and fund for their upbringing this takes a different turn (Currie, C., et al 2009). There are various child support schemes like child support allowance, child support prisons, child support problem and child support ruining. All these schemes are funded and they are allocated funds by the Government. This depends on the court and the type of cases filed against one of the parents in some cases. Child support is violates a fathers constitutional rights. In most of the States the child support system is based on the percentage of a Fathers income and not on the actual needs or requirements of the childs survival (Forster, M., and D. Richardson 2011). This is mostly termed by most of the victimized fathers that this amount is enjoyed by the mothers and not all of it goes for the upbringing of the children. This type of a system is called as back door alimony by most of the fathers. Not all the child support systems as the name suggests are genuine and most of the corrupt courts would impute the Fathers income. The corrective measure which is required in this case is that instead of calculating the amount a child has to receive based on the Fathers income the courts generally try and imagine as to what is the earning potential of the Father which is an incorrect measure to even rely on. Child support system was started in 1970 as an anti - poverty scheme to lift the children from poverty and recent reports show that most of the families has incomes which were less than the poverty threshold. It has been proven in various cases that the amounts which are fixed have no connection in reality and they are levied unnecessarily. In most of the cases the child support income exceeds the total income of the father as well. The mothers income is not considered at all while calculating the child support income in all of the cases. Another lay factor which can hurt the paying parent is that the custodian parent is no obligation to explain to the court or the paying parent as to how the money is spent. This is one of the ways in which the mothers exploit the genuine fathers to draw money out of them. This has also given rise to cases where the mothers dont pay for the childs benefit and in some cases they might even be dressed in rags. The other shocking registry which has to be noted is that the fathers end up paying thousands of dollars for the childs benefit and they dont even get to claim that the child is a dependent during the taxation time. The fathers pay tax on the child support money. It is not considered as a pre tax amount. The mothers on the other hand have a second tax free income to use whenever they want to. The law has been framed in such a way in some states the child support income does not cover the father visiting expenses as well. If the child visits the father during summer and does not stay with the mother during this period even then the child support has to be paid (EC (European Commission) 2012). In some of the cases the child support gets paid by the father twice during the year. The main catch to this case is also that if the father remarries and if the new wife is also working then the child support fee which has to be paid increases by the court. Argument 1 This is one of the most genuine cases where the father s feel exploited where they dont get to get the care and trust on the law. Unreasonable sanctions are levied on the Fathers who are even unable to pay. They are labelled as deadbeat fathers who have their wages garnished, their property liened, their licenses like the drivers license revoked and in some cases they might even be sent to prison for a set period of time. This has to be viewed in such a way in this case as this is not a debt which one of the parents owes to someone they are supporting the child and this is totally unconstitutional. Argument 2 The same anti child support system can be true in terms of the feminist cases as well. There is a lot of gender bias which happens in this case. The child support system should be implemented like any other welfare scheme which does not attract much of criticism from any of the sources. In most of the cases we have seen it has been encountered that the child support system has been in the implementing stage by the government through various schemes and welfare systems however in the current systems the case has been slightly different. The Real Jean Valjean essays

The Real Jean Valjean essays Jean Valjean: He is, in my opinion, one of the most simple and at the same time one of the most complex characters ever written. As readers follow his journey through Victor Hugos classic novel Les Miserables, they come to see that Valjean is a passionate person and his story is one filled with many emotions. Love, hate, shame, guilt, the need to prove oneself... All of these timeless issues are embodied in this one mans voyage to freedom and happiness. Through the years, Les Miserables has been adapted into many things- movies, plays, and even musicals. Every director has faced the challenge of bringing to life the multifaceted character of Valjean; some succeed and some fail. After viewing both Bille August and Glenn Jordans interpretation of the book, I believe Augusts presentation of Jean Valjean is by far more believable as a human being. In Glenn Jordans film, Jean Valjean is played by Richard Jordan, who seems too young an actor to master the intricate details of Valjeans personality and psyche. As the film progresses, Jordans acting becomes increasingly tedious and awkward and he makes no effort to add depth to his portrayal of Valjean as the character ages. His actions seem calculated and cold, as if he is merely reciting his lines instead of playing the part; the emotions he speaks of never truly reach his eyes. Jordan simply goes through the motions and as a result, makes Valjean seem detached and uninteresting when the exact opposite is true. On the other hand, Bille Augusts film stars Liam Neeson as the good-hearted Frenchman who spends his life making up for his past mistakes. Neeson has the ability to completely immerse himself in a role, which is exactly what he does in this film. He plays Valjean with such passion and poise that the viewer cannot help but sympathize and accept Valjeans flaws for his good intentions. Neesons acting retains a...

Do administration times of anti-retro viral therapies affect their Essay

Do administration times of anti-retro viral therapies affect their efficacy - Essay Example Although none of the studies I found, as stated, were specifically designed to test my hypothesis. The majority the studies, in reading, the test found evidence or results that lead to the theory that timing of drug therapy is vital in the treatment of AIDS. Specific studies in this area would, in my estimation, greatly advance what we know about AIDS, best practice methods for treatment, and the possibility for halting its progression. I am a nursing working with AIDS patients. In the daily course of my duties I have seen numerous patients whose treatment plans vary greatly from one individual to another. Often the drug therapy methodologies and prescription frequency are contrary to commonly accepted practices and sometimes conflict with pharmaceutical recommendations. As a nurse, my primary goal is to enhance the level of treatment AIDS patients receive and to ensure treatment methods are in the best interest of maintaining the client’s health and quality of life. The conflicting treatment methods began to raise questions for me. I began to ask whether the initial implementation of drug therapy had a direct impact on the patient’s longevity and quality of life. There were varying opinions amongst healthcare givers on the best time to begin treatment. Although this is sometimes determined by the time diagnosis of the disease with respect to the progress of the virus, often times, even with early dia gnosis, the decision to begin administering of anti-retro drugs was not uniform. Dr. Jens Lundgren, a physician at the Copenhagen HIV Programme and Dr. Andrew N. Phillips, a professor of epidemiology reported in a British Journal of Medicine article that had examined the indirect relationship discovered regarding the assessment of the efficacy of anti-HIV drugs. Through analyzing data from various trials they were examining the effectiveness of various drug treatments. However, at the conclusion of their research they
