Emily the Criminal Mastermind Essay

In the report card A Rose for Emily, Emily murders her loverusing poison. The readers are led on to think that she kills himbecause she does not want him to leave her, which is what he intendsto do. Her relationship with kor Barron, her lover, is a normalrelationship nothing indicates that their relationship is in both kindof trouble. Having examined her relationship and characters, Emily puke be seen as a bounce back criminal.As opposite as they are of each other, they are attracted to geniusanother. Although the relationship between Emily and her go isdysfunctional, her relationship between her and home run is a healthyone. Homer works with a construction company, and he is in theleadership position in his workplace. He can be seen as a joker as hemakes everyone laugh wherever he goes. He is a popular person becausehe makes himself well know to everyone in town. Wherever he goes,little boys would follow him to hear him blethering to and tell jokes. She, onthe other hand, is always quiet. She doesnt talk to anyone in town.There are gossips of her but she would never confront them instead,she just ignores them. As opposite as Emilys personalities are tothat of Homers, they get along with each other. This shows that shecan be sociable. later on all, she can get along with the most popularguy in town.She is very calm, cool and collective. After her fatherdies, some people visit her to offer sympathy, yet she is togged up asusual with no trace of grief on her face. counterbalance though she has killedHomer, when the people in the town visit her because she doesnt remunerationher property tax, she speaks to them as though there isnt anythingwrong. When she goes to buy the poison to kill Homer, she speaks withcertainty that she wants to buy the poison. I want arsenic, shesays. This indicates that she has contemplated to kill Homer. Whenthe chemist insists that she tells him what she is going to use itfor, she silences him with her look. She knows what she is doing.She can be seen as markling and manipulative by thesilence of the Negro, her house keeper. The Negro goes out to thestore every now and then to buy food from the market, he doesnt talkto anyone. Though the author does not indicate whether the Negroknows about Homers dead corpse in the bedroom, its hard to presupposethat he doesnt know about it. The neighbors complain of the smell,which they do not know that its from a dead body. For the durationthat the body has been in the house, its impossible to imagine thatthe Negro has no knowledge of it. presumptuous that he knows, yet hedoesnt talk to anyone about it shows that she has control over him.Ruling out that shes suffering from insanity, one canonly conclude that shes criminal mastermind. Even though her fatheris abusive, she is able to have meaningful relationship. Herrelationship with Homer shows that she can be sociable. After herfathers death, she shows no grief. While having Homers body in thebedroom upstairs, sh e attends to her guests as though nothing iswrong. At the same time, she is able to keep the butler from talkingto anyone about anything. intend to kill Homer, she buys the poisonwithout any hesitation even though the pharmacist asks her manyquestions. Using the control that she has over the person under herand her environment, she gets international with murder.
